Hello, my name is David Anderson, CFO at LungLife. Advocacy is a crucial component in tackling lung cancer. Foundations can often reach further, and in unique directions, compared to physicians and researchers to provide value to all constituents and stakeholders by making sure everyone's concerns are heard.
We were recently introduced to the White Ribbon Project, an organization focused on promoting awareness about lung cancer by changing public perception about the disease and in particular that it is not a cancer that only affects smokers. As they put it so effectively, anyone with lungs can get lung cancer.
At LungLife, in seeking to achieve our purpose to be a driving force in the early detection of lung cancer, we understand that advocacy organizations are working hard on a number of fronts by supporting patients and caregivers, pushing for more funding for research, dispelling myths, dispelling some of the stigma attached to lung cancer and ultimately encouraging a better understanding of this disease, which in the US alone kills more people every year than colon, breast and prostate cancer combined. We are grateful for the work of all those who advocate for lung cancer.
In pursuit of our purpose to be a driving force in the early detection of lung cancer, our vision is to invert the 20:80 ratio, such that in years to come, at least 80% of lung cancer cases are detected early.
